meet our horses

Our 7-year-old off track Thoroughbred, came in with a fractured leg. He is healing nicely. Such a smart and goofy boy!

His name says it all. He is a big boy, big as a "moose". He came in with ulcers and horrible hoof issues and is still undergoing extensive treatment but he is doing really well. Such a beauty! He is going to be a nice steady friend for someone. 

Nestor has been with us for almost 3 years. We learned a lot from him and his strong personality. He's been in and out of the hospitals for the first year, but eventually was doing really well. He always acted like a big boss and every new arrival needed his "approval". Tough racing life had caught up with him and he passed away on August 6, 2021 . He will be in our hearts forever. 

Della has been a brood mare for her whole life, used strictly for breeding. Sadly, horses like Della are often discarded once their nursing career is over or in her case even before that. Our trainer's family saved her from the kill pen in Texas, pregnant and on the way to the slaughter. Della came to California and found her forever home with us.

Oakland (Roma) is a 8-year-old Thoroughbred, off the track. He first came to us so he could safely recover from a racing injury but he found his home here. He loves people and his pasture-mates. Roma challenges Moose daily (and unsuccessfully) for his alpha-position.

Action is a 7-year-old Thoroughbred. His last race was  in August 2021. He tore a tendon and was written off as unviable. The fate of racehorses is one of darkest best-kept secrets of the racing industry and their future is usually grim. Action is staying with us, while he can fully recovery physically and mentally. 

Whisper and Vadim - it was love at first sight. She is a diva and she knows it!

Dolly is everybody's mama. She accepts and welcomes every new member of the family as if they are Family. She is 31 years old and this is her "forever" home.
